cooking

Maybe it's not the most interesting or amazing thing to write about, but I enjoy it. Not very good at it, but i can do wonders with a chicken filet... atleast for myself. The only problem is, I don't have much money to be spent on fine cuisine, so I basically resort to fired chicken and potatoes every day. Praise the Lord I have even that!
It would be great though if all you fine chefs out there could give me some recipes for a poor man!

  1. Here's one. Step one: You go catch a shrutka to your mom's place. Step two: You beg her to cook you something. Step three: Go easy on steps One & Two, or else my recepie won't work.

  2. You don't need meat to make a good stir fry! Just lots of soy sauce and honey!

I do my stir fry in an oversized skillet with a bit of water and I pre cook the chicken in the skillet before hand. add in any veggies you want, once it is all cooked and the veggies are soft dump in your seasonings and vola!

Pasta is a good cheap thing that spreads for a bit too, and homemade sauces are easy! BUT I have no idea what is available to you in Ukraine so... I may be not of much help!

  3. Check out this website allrecipes.com, they have a way to search for recipes based on what ingredients you have. You can also put what ingredients you do not want into your search too.

As far as recipes that I can give you...my favorite cheap/time saver is to buy a whole chicken (skin, bones and all is usually cheaper) and then boil the chicken. After that you can shred the chicken to use in a number of things for a whole week. As well as your own chicken broth for soup or whatever else. Ok, so that was less recipe and more tip. But ask little Nastya, I'm sure she knows stuff to make. And if not Lena certainly does. She is a great cook. Oh by the way, we haven't "met" (someday) but congrats on marrying our sweet Nastya! She is wonderful! Leah
